A 31 year old farmer at Perry's Crossroads, Edgefield District, he enlisted as a Private in Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 9 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862 and died the next day.
