Before Sharpsburg

A 23 year old mechanic in Loundesville, Abbeville District, he enlisted as 5th Corporal of Company D, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He was to 5th Sergeant on 1 January 1862 and elected 2nd Lieutenant at the reorganization of 13 May. He was slightly wounded in the neck at Savage Station, VA on 29 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the leg at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His leg was amputated but be died on 22 September 1862, place not given.
