An 18 year old farm laborer in the Anderson District, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 9 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his shoulder in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was at General Hospital #18 in Richmond, VA to 10 November 1862, when he was furloughed with no further military record.
