Before Sharpsburg
A 19 year old farmer in Oakland, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in the left knee in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured.
The rest of the War
He was paroled in October and in Chimborazo Hospital #4 in Richmond, VA by 23 October. He returned to duty in about March 1863 and was present to June 1864 with no later military record.
