Before Sharpsburg
A 31 year old farmer in Douthit, Anderson District, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 1 July 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in a hospital in Culpeper, VA to at least 26 September. He was detailed as a Diision wagoner in April 1863, but was in a hospital in Columbia, SC later that month. He returned to duty about December 1863 and was wounded and captured on the North Anna River, VA on 23 May 1864. He was sent to Port Royal, VA on 30 May and exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 18 September 1864. He was admitted to General Hospital #9 in Richmond, VA on 23 September but died there of disease on 4 October 1864.
