Before Sharpsburg
A 19 year old farm worker on his mother's place in Jackson Hill, Spartanburg District, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 14th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was absent from his Company to 1 May 1864 when he was discharged for disability.
