A 30 year old farmer in New Prospect, Spartanburg District, he enlisted as Private, Company F, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 9 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in hospitals in Richmond, VA into January 1863. He was surrendered on 26 April 1865 and paroled at Greensboro, NC on 2 May 1865.
