His service from Swain.1 His gravesite is on Findagrave; his stone says he "was wounded seven times in the battle of Sharpsburg Md."

He married Margaret Rebecca McConnell (1832-1912) in 1856 and they had a daughter Lucinda Rebecca (1857-1915), named for his mother.
