Before Sharpsburg
Age 19, from Perry's Crossroads, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He reenlisted in Company M on 11 February 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by a gunshot to his left ring finger in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He in hospitals in Culpeper then Farmville, VA, and furloughed for 60 days on 17 October. He returned to duty about January 1863 but was killed on the North Anna River, VA on 23 May 1864.
