Before Sharpsburg

A 27 year old mechanic in Cokesbury, Abbeville District, he enlisted as Private, Company B, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 1 July 1862 and mustered in on 13 June in Richmond, VA. He reenlisted in Company A on 13 April 1862, but transferred back to "B" and was promoted to 2nd Corporal in May. He was wounded in the leg at Savage Station, VA on 29 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Corporal on 21 September and to 5th Sergeant on 1 February 1863. He was wounded yet again, mortally, at Chickamauga, GA on 20 September 1863 and died of his wounds on 16 October in Marietta, GA.
