A 25 year old farmer at Conwayboro, Horry District, he enlisted as Private, Company L, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 26 June 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in Richmond, VA hospitals with a gunshot wound (Sharpsburg or other place?) from June to September 1863, and then furloughed for 30 days. He died on 15 January 1864 in Columbia, SC.
