A 29 year old farmer at Arnolds Mills, Pickens District, he enlisted as Private, Company A, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 9 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in hospitals in Richmond, VA from 28 October into April 1863. He was in a hospital in Lynchburg, VA in September 1863 and one in Columbia, SC in December. He died at home on 24 May 1864.
