Before Sharpsburg
A 19 year old farmer from Oakland, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was on furlough from 6 October to 20 January 1863. He was promoted to 2nd Corporal on 6 July 1863 but was killed at Cold Harbor, VA on 2 June 1864.
