A 17 year old farmer from Richardsonville, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He did not return to his Company.

He married Emma Elizabeth Boyd (1852-1885) in about 1872 and they had 5 children. His father's name was Jacob Pou, and his brother James and sister Margaret probably spelled their last names that way.
