Before Sharpsburg

A 21 year old cooper in Conwayboro, Horry District, he enlisted as Private, Company L, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 26 June 1861. He was promoted to 4th Sergeant on 13 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the shoulder in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA to 4 November 1862. He was promoted to 3rd Sergeant on 1 May 1864 but was killed 5 days later in the Wilderness, VA.
