Before Sharpsburg
A 22 year old farmer at Edgefield Court House, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He reenlisted in Company A on 13 April 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was in a hospital in Winchester, VA and detailed there as a cook to about December 1862, but he died of pneumonia in a hospital in Richmond on 18 April 1863.
