Before Sharpsburg
A 22 year old farmer in Duntonville, Edgefield District, he enlisted as 2nd Corporal of Company K, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He was promoted to 3rd Sergeant at the reorganization on 13 May 1862.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
