Before Sharpsburg
A 32 year old farmer in the Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company H, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861 and was appointed 4th Corporal in July. He reenlisted in Company A on 11 February 1862 as 5th Sergeant, and was promoted to 3rd Sergeant on 1 July.
On the Campaign
He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
