A 27 year old farmer in the Abbeville District, he enlisted as Private, Company D, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He returned to duty about January 1863, he was surrendered on 26 April 1865, and was paroled at Greensboro, NC on 2 May 1865.
