A 23 year old farm worker at Abbeville Court House, he enlisted as Private, Company D, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861 and reenlisted on 18 July 1862.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds at Shepherdstown, VA on 5 October 1862.
