Before Sharpsburg

Age 20, from Willington, Abbeville District, he enlisted as Private, Company C, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He was appointed 6th Corporal on 15 July 1861 but was reduced to Private on 13 May 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862, furloughed on 22 December, and discharged for disability on 22 April 1863.

After the War

He was a farmer in Augusta, GA by 1880 and was receiving a Confederate pension there by 1907. He died of a broken spine after a fall, at about age 75 in 1915.
