Before Sharpsburg
A 23 year old farmer at Ridge Post Office, Edgefield District, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th South Carolina Infantry 9 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on Maryland Heights near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862 and his arm was amputated.
The rest of the War
He was in a hospital in Richmond, VA to 7 October and then furloughed. He was probably discharged for disability about January 1863.
