Before Sharpsburg

In 1860 he was an 18 year old carpenter living with his parents and siblings at Winnsboro, Fairfield District, SC. He enlisted at Alston, SC as Private in Company F, 12th South Carolina Infantry on 28 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to 4th Corporal on 1 October 1864 and was captured at Waynesboro, NC on 21 February 1865. He was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD until he was released after taking an oath of allegiance on 24 June 1865.

His service from the Roll 1 and his Compiled Service Records,2 online from fold3. Lt. J.R. Boyles' Reminiscences of the Civil War (1890) says his Sharpsburg wound was mortal. Personal details from family genealogists and the US Census of 1850 and 1860 (as Tim Senter Brown).
