He was listed as missing in action but had been captured at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He signed a US Army parole at Sharpsburg, MD on 27 September 1862 and requested not to be returned or exchanged. By December 1862 he was dropped from the Company muster roll, "missing" since September 1862.
