Age 25, from the Union District, he enlisted as Private, Company F, 15th South Carolina Infantry in March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the leg in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and captured.

The rest of the War

He was sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore and exchanged in October 1862. He was discharged, date and place not given.
