Before Sharpsburg
Age 22, a worker on his father's substantial farm at Goudeysville (or Goudie's Ville) in the Union District, he enlisted as Private, Company F, 15th South Carolina Infantry on about 1 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
After the War
By 1880 and to at least 1910 he was farming on his own at Goudysville.
