From the Newberry District, he enlisted as Private, Company I, 15th South Carolina Infantry, about 1 September 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

After the War

In 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a farmer in Cannons, Newberry County.
