Before Sharpsburg
A 17 year old worker on his father's farm at Calhoun's Mills in the Abbeville District, he enlisted as Private, Company K, 15th South Carolina Infantry, about 1 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds in Winchester, VA on 21 October 1862.
