Age 19, from the Union District, he enlisted as Private, Company D, 18th South Carolina Infantry about 1 February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in his right arm in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He "lost" his arm, probably to amputation.

After the War

By 1870 and to at least 1880 he was a farmer at Brushy Creek, Anderson County.
