Known as Preston, a 21 year old son of a prosperous farmer at Aiken in the Barnwell District, he enlisted as Private, Company A, 22nd South Carolina Infantry about 15 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

After the War

By 1900 and to at least 1910 he was a farmer in Aiken County.
