Before Sharpsburg

A married 27 year old farmer in Dallas County, he enlisted at Pleasant Hill as Private, Company A, 44th Alabama Infantry on 17 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged on 6 November 1862 and returned to duty. He was captured again, at Suffolk, VA on 19 April 1863 and exchanged on 5 May. He was wounded at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863 and captured there. He was held at Fort Delaware and died there, probably of disease, on 3 January 1864.
