A 37 year old farmer on his father's place in the Abbeville District, he enlisted as Sergeant, Company D, 22nd South Carolina Infantry about 15 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died in May 1864, place and cause not known.
