He enlisted as Private, Company D, 22nd South Carolina Infantry about 15 January 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his jaw in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and captured.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to US Army General Hospital #4 in Frederick, MD on 19 September and transferred to GH#7 on 17 October, with no further hospital record.
