Before Antietam

From Jefferson County, he enlisted as Private in Company E, 3rd Indiana Cavalry on 22 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at the Quebec Schoolhouse near Middletown, MD on 13 September 1862 and died there the next day.

The rest of the War

He as reinterred from his original burial in Middletown to the National Cemetery in about 1867.
