Before Sharpsburg

A farm worker in Statesville, he enlisted as First Sergeant, Company F, 7th Tennessee Infantry on about 15 May 1861. He was commissioned First Lieutenant on 26 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the leg in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals recovering to 16 May 1863 when he resigned due to his wounds.

His service from Lindsley1 and William Thomas Venner's The 7th Tennessee Infantry in the Civil War (2013). His gravesite is on Findagrave. He died exactly 40 years after the battle of Sharpsburg, in 1902.
