A blacksmith at Oak Point, Wilson County, he enlisted as a Private, Company G, 7th Tennessee Infantry about 15 May 1861. He was wounded on 27 (28?) August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Harpers Ferry, VA on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was on furlough until discharged for wounds on 18 April 1863.
After the War
By 1870 and to at least 1900 he was a blacksmith in Oak Point.
