A farm worker at Mount Carmel, he enlisted as a Private, Company G, 7th Tennessee Infantry about 15 May 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on furlough but was listed as a deserter on 15 October 1862

After the War

He was in Kansas by 1866. In 1880 he was listed as a huckster in Leavenworth, KS, but he was farming there by 1900.
