Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as Private, Company F, 3rd Alabama Infantry on 26 April 1861 at Montgomery. He was court martialed for "Disobedience of Orders" in December 1861, pled guilty, and was released to return to duty.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the left leg in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His leg was amputated, with no further military record.
