An unmarried 21 year old farmer in Wesabulga, AL, he enlisted as Private, Company D, 13th Alabama Infantry on 19 July 1861 in Montgomery.

On the Campaign

He was with his Company at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September but was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father Thomas filed for his final pay in April 1864.
