From Aston Stove, Marion County, he enlisted as Private, Company C, 26th Alabama Infantry about December 1861.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

H was exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 11 October but was sent to a hospital in Richmond, VA where he died of smallpox on 27 November 1862.
