Before Sharpsburg

From Aston Stove, Marion County, he enlisted as Private, Company C, 26th Alabama Infantry on 7 December 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the chest in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and captured.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged at Fortress Monroe, VA on 17 October and was sent to a hospital in Richmond, VA on the 24th. He returned to duty on 24 November 1862 and survived the war.
