He was wounded in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured Altoona Pass on the Chattahoochie River on 4 July 1864 and was held at Camp Douglas. He mustered into the 5th US Volunteer Infantry on 14 April 1865.
