He commanded the Company (as acting Lieutenant?) in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862; Lieutenant Ballenger being ill.
The rest of the War
He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in October or November 1862 and First Lieutenant on 3 May 1863. He was wounded at Ezra Church, GA on 28 July 1864 and in a hospital in Macon, GA. H He was Captain by 30 November 1864 and took an oath of allegiance on 17 May 1865 in Columbus, MS.
