Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as Private(?), Company D, 26th Alabama Infantry about December 1861. He was on sick leave in 1862 but returned to duty on 17 August and was appointed 2nd Lieutenant.

On the Campaign

He commanded the Company in action on South Mountain on 14 September but was sick at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Lieutenant in November 1862 and to Captain on 3 May 1863. He resigned his commission on 12 October 1863 and had later service in Hampton's (SC) Legion.
