He enlisted as Private, Company H, 26th Alabama Infantry on 15 February 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the abdomen in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged at Fortress Monroe, VA on 17 October 1862 and sent to Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was furloughed on 17 November and died in Huntsville, AL, date not given (but before April 1863 when his widow filed a claim).
