He enlisted as Private, Company K, 26th Alabama Infantry and was promoted to Sergeant, dates not given.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the arm and thigh in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and captured.

The rest of the War

He was sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore then exchanged on 13 October. He was in Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, VA then furloughed home on 17 November 1862, but never returned to his Company.
