He enlisted in Union Springs as Private, Company D, 3rd Alabama Infantry on 22 April 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed home to Aberfoil, AL on 8 October 1862 and was there to at least December. On 27 March 1863 he was detailed to a CSA shoe shop in Columbus, GA and was there to at least January 1865.
