In 1860 he was a 21 year old farmer on his parent's small place near Brewersville in Sumter County, AL. He enlisted as a Private in Company B (later renamed G), 5th Alabama Infantry 15 April (or 27 August) 1861 in Livingston, AL.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

His father T. [Thrashley] Terrell filed for his final pay in April 1863.
