He enlisted as First Sergeant, Company K (later F), 6th Alabama Infantry on 2 May 1861 at Crawford, AL.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his chest in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 18 October 1862 and was transferred to Baltimore, probably for exchange, on 20 October. He was killed in action on 12 July 1864 probably at Fort Stevens, Washington, DC.

His service from the State of Alabama.1 His wounding on South Mountain is in a casualty list for Rodes' Brigade in the Montgomery Weekly Advertiser of 8 October 1862. Wound and hospital details from the Patient List.2
