Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as Private, Company C (later I), 6th Alabama Infantry on 11 May 1861 at Clifton, AL.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot to his hip in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured there.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army General Hospital #4 in Frederick, MD on 12 October 1862 and transferred to GH#7 there on 17 October. He was exchanged about November but was on furlough for his wounds to at least the end of 1862. He was detached at a hospital in Selma, AL in August 1864 to at least February 1865.

His service from the State of Alabama.1 He was listed as killed at Sharpsburg in a casualty list for Rodes' Brigade in the Montgomery Weekly Advertiser of 8 October 1862. Wound and hospital details from the Patient List.2
